Hi,
Does anyone own a pair of fitflop shoes? I would love to hear what you think about them anid if you would recommend them to others.

Yes I own two pairs a friend recommended them to me last year. When I first started wearing them my calfs and thighs ached abit, but then they are meant to be for fitness. I wore them everywhere even on long walks. I would personally recommend them, so comfy. I wore them around the house first, to get use to them, but saying that this is because I always wear real flatties and they are slightly higher. I see so many people wearing them now and they even do sparkly ones for the evening. Anne

Hi Val, Yes I own 2 pairs, Lilac ones and black sparkley ones for wearing out. They are comfy and I wear them to work from time to time. I would recommend them to others. Lorna

Problem is, if you have bad RA feet, the podiatrists don't like you wearing them as they have no arch support and no back.

Hi Val We had quite a discussion on flitflops here! I'm not sure whether the jury is still out awaiting Barbara's delivery!! She's going to report back My concern is that people with RA are buying these for their comfort but the long term effects of incorrectly supported feet may not show for many years by which time it may be too late. Been there, done that! Lyn x

Hi
As I have said before I have a pair if fitflops which are just the comfiest things for the summer. I would like to mention that when I told the podiatrist that I had worn fitflops the majority of the time last summer she told me that they are great and that she had recommended them to others with RA.

What on earth are we poor patients supposed to think, Clare  . All these so called professionals have different ideas, don't they? My podiatrist said don't touch them. Thinking about it, though, maybe it depends on each individual's feet - some can cope with them well and others can't. How confusing is all is!!! Love Jeanxxxx

Thank you for your comments on Fitflops, much appreciated, they make interesting reading. We are currently looking into the benefits of Fitflops for people with RA and will keep you posted. Please keep the comments coming.

Hi just been on fitflops website and they do them with Velcro straps across the toes and the ankle , will definitely try a pair now . I just thought they did the ones between your toes and ones with no back in , seen a lovely pink pair !

Spoke to a local lady with RA last night who has been having problems with the metatarsal heads and her shoes, she's got some fit flops and says they've been wonderful for her feet. But like Jean I was told not to wear shoes without a back or arch support. Surely this a very dificult one for blanket approval or no-no? All our feet are different and to recommend or otherwise is surely impossible? I am happy to abide by my podiatrists recommendation for my feet.

Thanks Val i took look myself at fit flop site,ive decided not for me having little no arches what support is in them looks far to little for me. i need ankle support a ankle strap isnt enough my feet are unbalance due to RA cuasing my arches to drop,feet roll either side. so i need ankle support and midfoot to. crocs did seem have more support,but wouldnt rec using them walking about more for round house,or bit potting plants. melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

no i don,t recomand .Best way of triping up and broken leg if me wearing them plus flip flops in a crowd people step on the backs of them and over you go . christine  The chocolate eating housewife ...The washer woman .....naughty lady

yes i wouldnt wear them im likely either sprain my ankle or some one stand on them and me on ground. got to have ankle strap and heel either in or partially in. my balance is not so good. and my feet need be held securely. melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

I think I would fall over too. I've only got to try and stand up and I nearly fall over. I keep leaning to one side!

Hey I have been wearing mine lots and kept in mind all what everyone asked. They do really support the arch and there is a strap at that area too which also gives comfort and support. They have a small heel and do give extreme comfort, my black ones have a foam lining I find them more comfortable than my lilac ones. The lilac ones are suede leather, they are comfy but not as much as the foam lined ones. The strap is part of the fitflop but the position of it is good. Hope this is a help. Lorna x

Hi,
thanks for all your comments on Fitflops, it is quite clear that everyone is different and what works for some won't work for others!
I am glad some of you find Fitflops comfortable and easy to wear, they are incredibly popular at the moment with more and more styles and colours coming onto the market every week.
